The Auburn men's and women's golf teams begin their quests for postseason honors today at the SEC Championships. The No. 3-ranked men tee off at St. Simons Island, Ga., while the fifth-ranked women play at Fayetteville, Ark.

The slumping Auburn baseball team begins a crucial three-game series at home today against South Carolina. The Tigers need to find a way to get back on track after two miserable weekends in Tuscaloosa and Nashville.

South Carolina fans are worried about their Friday starter, who has a 2.55 ERA. If a guy with a 2.55 ERA is a concern for the Gamecocks, Auburn could be in for a tough weekend.

Auburn softball, losers of 15 of 18, hosts Arkansas this weekend in a series that could determine whether or not the Tigers reach the SEC Tournament. Auburn is currently in eighth place in the SEC standings, and the Hogs are one game back. The top eight conference teams advance to tournament play.

The Auburn men's tennis team picked up a first-round win over South Carolina in the SEC Tournament on Thursday before falling to Georgia this morning. Women's tennis bowed out in the first round of the tournament, losing to Tennessee.

Spring football practice has come and gone, and head coach Gene Chizik offered up some pretty standard coach speak. Chizik said the team is still too inconsistent, but that he's happy with the progress that has been made.

Missouri unveiled its new football unis over the weekend, and despite being uniform traditionalists, we don't think they look too bad.

It was a bit of a rough weekend for Auburn sports other than football: Women's tennis fell to Alabamabaseball dropped two of three at Vanderbilt, and softball was swept at No. 3 Florida

On a more positive note, men's tennis defeated Alabama.

Junior Blayne Barber has been named a semifinalist for the Ben Hogan Award, which is awarded to the top men's collegiate golfer. It's the second straight year Barber has been named a semifinalist for the award.

With the arrival of spring football practice everyday brings a plethora of actual, real-life news. Today's news isn't so great. Defensive tackle Gabe Wright will miss the rest of the spring with an undisclosed injury, and quarterback Clint Moseley sat out with what baseball fans would probably call "tired arm."

Apparently, Auburn football studs and Zelda Sayre, who would go on to marry and take the last name of some writer, became pretty chummy in the early 1900's.

Some new names will soon adorn Auburn's Tiger Trail, the most prominent of which is likely former defensive back and Thorpe Award-winner Carlos Rogers.

The most recent issue of the Auburn Villager has a nice feature on Eyes On Auburn, a weekly radio show that, believe it or not, focuses on Auburn sports. The show is produced by College and Magnolia contributor Blake Ells.

This early analysis SEC West football schedules projects Auburn to go 9-3 in 2012, with losses to LSU, Texas A&M (lol wut?) and Alabama. Of course, when you scroll down to A&M's schedule, the Aggies are predicted to lose to Auburn. So, maybe the Tigers are projected to go 10-2 next year. We're not really sure.

Auburn baseball shut out South Alabama on Tuesday, continuing the trend of taking care of business in midweek games. The Tigers struggled in midweek action last season, and it cost them a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Hey, after a big series win over Ole Miss, it doesn't seem all that crazy to be a little optimistic about the Tigers on the diamond.

There have been many questions circulating regarding the transfers of Willy Kouassi and Bernard Morena. Their legal guardian, Darien Knox, says he had nothing to do with their decisions.

Kenny Gabriel's Auburn career may be over, but he'll get to put on the orange and blue one last time. Gabriel was selected to participate in the State Farm Slam Dunk Contest, a part of this year's Final Four festivities. The contest is Thursday, March 29 at 8 p.m. and will air on ESPN.

Believe it or not, Auburn makes a pretty penny off its athletic programs. The Tigers make plenty of money, but they have some serious expenses, as well, cutting their profit margin down to a measly $3 million.

The SEC is preparing to release future 14-team schedules for most sports. Of course, football and basketball aren't included.

In these "Way Too Early" bowl projections, Auburn is picked to once again play in the Peach, err Chick-Fil-A Bowl against Virginia Tech. If it works out that way, that would be the Tigers' fourth game in the Georgia Dome in 24 months.

NEW RANKINGS: Auburn softball is ranked 21st in the USA Today Poll. Men's tennis slips a spot to No. 19 in the latest ITA Rankings, and women's tennis fell two spots to No. 64.

Remember Ben Grubbs, the former Auburn offensive guard? He just signed a five-year, $30 million deal with the New Orleans Saints. We can't confirm or deny whether or not he'll forget to block on running plays designed for Mark Ingram.

The NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships open today at one of the sport's greatest powerhouses -- Auburn University. A win would give the Auburn women their sixth title in 10 years and first since 2007.

This is a couple of days old, but if you've ever wondered about the namesakes for the Paul Lambert and Tommy Joe Eagles Memorial Trophy, here's a little background information.

Harvey Updyke's trial has been postponed again, because, apparently, it's incredibly difficult to put together a defense for a tree-poisoner.

Men's tennis player Alex Samchev picked up SEC player of the week honors for his performances against Arkansas and LSU last weekend. 

Women's tennis, ranked No. 62, came up short in a home match against No. 25 Georgia Tech on Wednesday afternoon.

The 14th-ranked Auburn gymnastics team hosts its final home meet of the year Friday night against BYU. The Tigers are looking for their second home win of the season. (Two home wins and Auburn is ranked No. 14? We don't fully understand all the ins and outs of college gymnastics, but that's why we're thankful to have @LaurnSmith.)

We realize that a couple of big stories occurred yesterday regarding Auburn basketball -- Varez Ward's point-shaving scandal and the Tigers' loss in the SEC Tournament. Those won't be linked here because, frankly, you should have already read every story available on those subjects. Moving on.

Now that basketball season is over, it's apparently time to start thinking about football again. A look at Auburn's depth chart tells us that the Tigers have plenty of talent and experience coming back in 2012 (duh).

The Tigers released salary information for offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler, defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder and defensive backs coach Willie Martinez on Thursday. Combined, Loeffler and VanGorder are making about as much as former offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn made by himself.

An excellent historical look at Jordan-Hare Stadium continues today with Part 2. In case you missed it last week, here's Part 1.

Gene Stallings confirms what pretty much everyone already knew: Texas A&M moved to the SEC because it was butthurt over Texas' Longhorn Network. And now the rest of the SEC is butthurt over having to play A&M instead of traditional rivals we actually care about.

Auburn baseball hosts Belmont for a three-game series this weekend. A sweep coming off the victory over Alabama would really build momentum for the Tigers.

No. 19/20 softball hosts the War Eagle Classic from today through Sunday. The Tigers are looking to bounce back from a 2-3 trip to Florida last weekend.

The 27th-ranked men's tennis team looks for its first SEC win of the year as it hosts Arkansas and LSU over the next couple of days. The No. 75 women's team will travel to face the Hogs and Tigers.

Men's and women's track and field begin competition at the Indoor Nationals in Nampa, Idaho, today.

Jon Luke Jacobs pitched a gem as the Auburn baseball team topped Alabama State on Tuesday. The two teams get together again to day at 5 p.m. at Plainsman Park.

A couple of women's basketball players earned SEC postseason honors: Blanche Anderson was named scholar-athlete of the year, and Hasina Muhammad garnered a spot on the all-freshman team.

Men's basketball plays at Alabama tonight, which should prove to be a tough task. The Tigers are shorthanded, and the Tide is fighting for an NCAA Tournament berth. Oh yeah, it's Senior Night in Tuscaloosa, too.

With the 2012 football recruiting class finally complete, here's a look at Auburn's newest potential gridiron heros.

You know the tiger head logo that Auburn fans love so much? Bad news: It turns out that, not only was it originally designed for LSU, but it was created by an Alabama graduate. What a shame.
